Infra-red
Explore the unseen world with our captivating infrared photography. Infra-red light, beyond the red spectrum, unveils a hidden dimension of beauty and intrigue. Our photographer, Peter, has mastered the art of understanding how infra-red light interacts with the environment, reminiscent of the days when images couldn’t be immediately viewed in film photography.
“It is like going back to the old film days when it wasn’t possible to see your image by looking at the back of the camera directly after taking the image. The magic happens in the post production”
Peter Longland
The magic unfolds during post-production, where the true essence of the image emerges. Using false colour infra-red, we associate colours with heat levels, creating stunning visuals that captivate and inspire. Immerse yourself in the captivating and beautiful imagery of infra-red photography.
These infrared landscape images of Agnes Water offer a stark, otherworldly view of the environment. One image shows beach huts set against sand and sky, with surrounding vegetation rendered in bright infrared tones that contrast with darker structural elements. The other two images focus on a coastal billabong near Main Beach, where still water mirrors pale infrared foliage and open ground around the water. The infrared treatment highlights form, contrast, and texture, presenting a distinctive interpretation of a familiar landscape.

This infrared gallery of Girraween National Park presents a familiar landscape in an unfamiliar way, transforming granite outcrops, creek lines, and native vegetation into scenes of striking contrast and tone. Foliage is rendered in luminous golden hues, while boulders and watercourses anchor the images with solid, timeless forms. The infrared process strips back natural colour to emphasise texture, shape, and light, revealing a quieter, more contemplative view of Girraween’s creeks, forests, and granite formations.
